FAQ

How many times must a Runner cross?
Current beginner guides describe three completed crossings as the Runner objective.
Should I always rescue a caught teammate?
No. Rescue when the Chaser is committed elsewhere and you have a safe route out; a forced rescue can give the Chaser another catch.
Is Cloak complete invulnerability?
No. Current ability guides say a cloaked Runner can still be hit, and using an item ends the cloak.

Build speed before the danger zone

Huss Valley movement rewards acceleration. Do not wait until the Chaser is beside you to start moving. Build momentum with enough space to react, then approach the crossing on a line that leaves room on both sides.

Holding one direction makes you easy to intercept. The goal is not constant zigzagging; it is making each change late enough to matter but early enough to keep control.

Use the two basic feints

The first feint is the side dash: hold A or D, then press Space. It moves laterally, so use it as the Chaser commits to an approach. The second is the instant stop on Alt. A Chaser predicting your forward momentum can overshoot when you stop unexpectedly.

Practice both without an ability. If you can only escape when a cooldown is ready, your routes remain fragile.

Cross with pressure, not panic

A group crossing forces the Chaser to choose. Spread just enough that one swing or area tool cannot control everyone, but stay close enough to exploit the moment another Runner draws attention.

Solo routes have value when the Chaser is far away or when your chosen mode rewards them, but an isolated Runner is also easier to track. The Chicken choice is safer while learning; Hero is better treated as a deliberate risk, not a default badge of skill.

Rescue with an exit route

Before interacting with a caught teammate, identify where you will run next. Approach while the Chaser is occupied, complete the rescue, and leave on a different angle. If the Chaser is guarding the prompt, pressure another objective instead of feeding a second catch.

Choose an ability for your weak point

  • One Hit Shield is a free timing tool for new players.
  • Pocket Door can create an obstacle and buy route space.
  • Inflatable Decoy can split attention.
  • Cloak hides you briefly but does not prevent hits.
  • Emergency Airhorn creates close-range separation.

Effects are summarized in all Huss Valley abilities and compared in the ability tier list. Shop prices have changed, so check the live menu before buying.

Five-minute practice routine

Spend one round focusing on acceleration, one on side-dash timing and one on instant stops. In later rounds, add group crossings and one safe rescue attempt. Review the beginner guide for controls, then use the Gems and Coins guide to plan your first permanent unlock.
